Between doors, around drawers, and in other areas where panels meet but should not touch, the optimal amount of space should be a 3mm, or about 1/8 of an inch. If you are experiencing either a significant gap or insufficient space to allow doors or drawers to operate smoothly, some adjustment may be needed to either the hinges or other connectors.
