The mechanism for the wall bed consists of a metal frame, a folding leg that tucks away when in the closed position and pivot arms that locate and allow the mechanism to fold up and down along a fixed pivot point. Pressurized gas pistons complete the assembly. These regulate the amount of force needed to properly open and close the wall bed mechanism and door, or front decorative panels, when the recommended amount of weight is place on the bed frame.
The pistons are relaxed when the bed is in the closed position and compressed when it is in the open position. When assembling the wall bed, you may notice that the pistons come extended. This allows the metal frame to be attached per the assembly instructions.
